Post G. Media Bias, Lies, Black Propaganda and Sins of Omission

You cannot hope to  bribe or twist,                                                                                         thank God, the British journalist.                                                                                           But, seeing what the man will do                                                                                           unbribed, there’s no occasion to.                                                                                                                                         Humbert Wolfe

On the anniversary of the Odessa Massacre, the Guardian (30/4/15) and the BBC (7/5/15), those two august representatives of the honest, objective western media, revisited the events of 2/5/14 in Odessa, and in two shameful articles in which they abandoned any pretence of responsible journalism, acted as little more than apologists for the fascist Kiev regime and the Right Sector neo-Nazi thugs that terrorise and murder with its support and blessing.                                                                                                                     As examples of sheer mendacity and blatant bias, they were by far the worst encountered and were intended to open this post. In the event, however, they demanded more space and words than anticipated and so have been transferred to Post J.

In the 18 months since the Ukraine crisis erupted unsubstantiated allegations have been the order of the day. The ‘evidence’ produced in  support of many of these mainly American allegations, has included, inter alia, photos manipulated or misattributed, videos given false voice-overs, lies from figures of authority and reports from ‘social media’ which are scarcely worth the pixels devoted to them.

In 2014 Udo Ulfkotte an editor at Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung confessed that he published under his name articles handed to him by the CIA and alleged that the entire European press does the same. See:                   4th entry down                                 and                                                                                                                                                                     and his personal video statement at                                                                                                               The above has now been taken down# by YouTube only to resurface at                                                                             #As happens all too frequently with videos that counter the White House narrative too effectively.

False Voice-over Applied to Video                                                                           15/2/15      On Demand News an ITN affiliate and The Guardian run a video with footage of Kiev government forces shelling a soup kitchen in which the narrative is twisted and corrupted by a voice-over which stands the incident on its head by describing the shelling as coming from ‘rebel’ separatist forces.                                                                                               In fact as Patrick Lancaster, the photojournalist who took the footage, confirms the video shows Ukrainian forces shelling the separatist civilian population, and one of the women in the video cursing Poroshenko.

SPECIFICS                                                                                                                                 There are so many it would warrant a book, indeed one may already have been written, but the following presented themselves without any need for research on my part.

THE GUARDIAN                                                                                                                      1/2/15                                                                                                                                             Not at all unexpected to see The Guardian hosting a column by Timothy Garton-Ash# in which he can propagandise for the rightwing cause and bang the drums of war: more guns, more guns, that’s the answer.                                                                                                                 It’s also the cry of the NRA.                                                                                             See also

# This would presumably be the same Garton-Ash who endorsed the lying propaganda that led to the slaughter in Iraq.                                                                                                   Saddam Hussein, he wrote, “has, as Powell documented, stockpiled large quantities of horrifying chemical and biological weapons, and is hiding what remains of them. He is still trying to get nuclear ones.”                                                                                                                He lauded Blair as a “Gladstonian, Christian liberal interventionist” and  in 2006 wrote, “Now we face the next big test of the West after Iraq: Iran.”                                                            Just give Garton-Ash and John McCain the tools, and they’ll find someone else to finish the job.

And The Guardian is at it again                                     and again                                                                                           and two more – on Israel/Palestine this time                              and

12/2/15                                                                                                                                   Commenting on the press freedom for which The Guardian is so esteemed, Roy Greenslade comes out with this gem: “The Guardian, however, is truly independent because it is owned by a trust rather than a group of wealthy men.”                                                                                         whereas in the real world The Guardian Media Group is owned by The Scott Trust Limited, which is run by an elite group of individuals from the worlds of banking, insurance, advertising, multinational consumer goods, venture investment and so on.

Simon Jenkins was more honest:                                                                                                       ‘Even the Guardian cannot be regarded as immune from such pressures… Any loss-making journal is at the mercy of its paymasters, be they the state, commerce, philanthropy or individuals.’

There’s also an interesting piece on Guardian alleged editorial independence under The Scott Trust in Going Underground from 2.30 in to 17.00 in the video running in                                                                                                                                                      which also deals with the sham of The Scott Trust.

5/3/15                                                                                                                                                 Finds The Guardian lauding the neo-Nazi women fighting for the fascist thugs who now constitute the administration in Kiev.

It ran an article on ‘The women fighting on the frontline in Ukraine’ with a photograph of ‘Anaconda’ standing in front of a van above the caption                                                       ‘Anaconda says she is being treated well by the men in her battalion, but is hoping the war will end soon.’                                                                                                                                     The van in front of which the ‘gun-toting’ Amazon is proudly standing has two emblems                                                                                                                                                  1. the number 1488, a neo-Nazi symbol                                                                                     2. the symbol on the door which is that for the 36th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS also known as the Dirlewanger Brigade notorious for its terror campaigns during WWII. See details at Wikipedia

Following a storm of protest, the article, which apparently first ran on the front page, was relegated to an inside page and the caption altered to ‘Anaconda alongside a van displaying the neo-Nazi symbol 1488. The volunteer brigade is known for its far-right links’                                                                                                                                                     Far-right indeed – and still no reference to the Dirlewanger symbol and the significance it would have for ethnic Russians in the east.   and                                                                                                   See also Keiser Report from 8.55 onwards.

6/6/15                                                                                                                                          The Guardian reports Gay Rights march in Kiev attacked by “dozens of unknown assailants”                                                                                                                                                                             What is it with the Guardian that it seems to be so determined to cover up for the neo-Nazis who have so much influence in the Ukraine? There was nothing ‘unknown’ about the assailants – they were thugs from the Right Sector.

THE INDEPENDENT                                                                                                          23/3/15                                                                                                                                         An outrageous article by Kim Sengupta churning out the White House anti-Russian propaganda to excess.                                                                                                                         The online version at                                                 slightly tones down the near-hysterical headings of the printed version                                                          “Lithuanians on guard for signs of Russian belligerence.                                                    Volunteers are signing up in their thousands fearing a repeat# of Ukraine.”

Note that they are only ‘on guard for signs of’ and nowhere in the article is there any link or reference to show that there has actually been any sign of Russian belligerence . . . this is US fostered paranoia pure and simple.

The piece would be risible were this sort of stuff not so serious giving rise before noon to over 18,000 internet hits. This is how fast this stupidity spreads.

We are told that the volunteers are making ‘preparations for a Russian invasion’ . . . ‘that there was no shortage of volunteers to fight the invaders’ . . . that the government had ‘published a 100 page pamphlet on how to survive an invasion’ . . . ‘that there would be no shortage of people prepared to stop aggression from the east’.                                                But not a shred of evidence is produced to show that there had been any signs of belligerence or that might suggest that the idea of invasion was even being contemplated by the Russian.                                                                                                                              Finally Sengupta has the cheek to refer to the ‘febrile atmosphere’ which if it exists must be created and fostered largely by articles such as he has produced.

Ridicule is most effective response to this sort of nonsense and it gets the treatment at:                                                                                                                                           “Russian Non-Invasion Causing Concern in European Capitals.                     Tensions across the Baltic States and Poland have reached fever pitch in recent days as it has become increasingly clear that the Russians have no plans whatsoever to attack any of these countries.”

# Presumably Sengupta does not mean the US engendered and financed coup which violently overthrew a legitimate democratically elected government and replaced it with a virulent anti-Russian, ultra-nationalistic, neo-Nazi regime.

18/6/15                                                                                                                                  They’re such sly stuff, these biased anti-separatist, pro-Kiev articles – so larded with weasel words and phrases.

The Independent under the heading “Violent arrest of journalist in Ukraine raises media fears” devotes two full columns to the story of Russian journalist Pavel Kanygin beaten up by officials in ‘rebel-held Donetsk.’

In the course of the article seven references are made to ‘rebels’ or ‘rebel-held,’ Kiev is not mentioned once, and where reference is made to journalists and media workers killed or abducted it is said to be during ‘the thirteen months of eastern Ukraine’s conflict.’

It is all so craftily done that it would be impossible for the casual and otherwise uninformed reader even to suspect that in fact the bulk of the violence, killing and suppression of free reporting is taking place well away from the conflict zone and within the Kiev-controlled territories where pro-Russian journalist are expelled, beaten up, kidnapped or murdered almost as a matter of routine.

Had the Independent truly been concerned for the freedom of the media rather than running an anti-separatist piece of propaganda it might have found space in earlier editions for:                                                                                                                                       26/2/15                                                                                                                                                The OSCE condemned Kiev’s restrictive measures towards Russian journalist as excessive.                                                                                                  16/4/15                                                                                                                                              Oles Buzyna a pro-Russia journalist was shot dead in Kiev.                                                   Within a day or so Sergey Sukhobok another journalist opposed to the Kiev regime was killed.

The Independent gives the murdered Buzyna four lines at the bottom of a long article.                                                                                                                                    Neither the OSCE report nor the murder of Sukhobok get a mention in the paper.

THE DAILY TELEGRAPH                                                                                             18/9/14                                                                                                                                         “Putin ‘privately threatened to invade Poland, Romania and the Baltic states’” Sub-headline:                                                                                                                                 “German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung reports that Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko told European Commission that Putin made the threat in a recent conversation”                                                                                                                                    Have you got that? The DT reports that Zeitung reports that Poroshenko told the EU Commission that Putin said to . . .                                                                                                         The only problems if the article is read closely are:                                                                       1. The EU refused to comment on the report.                                                                                     2. Poroshenko is ‘the only alleged source’, and ‘he might be motivated to exaggerate.’           And from this crumb of media gossip  via a couple more ‘ifs’ The Telegraph moves to ‘Britain could find itself at war with Russia.’                                                                                The whole article is no more than a sleazy and calculated piece of scaremongering, and would be laughable if the implications weren’t so serious.

Daily Mail                                                                                                                           30/1/15                                                                                                                                 ‘Russian nuclear bombers . . . intercepted over Bournemouth . . . we should all be VERY scared.’                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             The Tu-95s that were apparently ‘over Bournemouth’ despite being in international airspace are subsonic, antediluvian monsters that had their birth in the 1950s, and if the Kremlin was indeed bent on testing ‘our reactions and resolve,’ it wouldn’t be with these antique relics.     They are put in a proper perspective by the BBC.                                                           The many comments posted in response to this article contain some interesting reading and make it clear that even those who choose the Mail for their daily fix of news still keep a hold on the real world and their common sense.                                                                            24/2/15                                                                                                                              “Vladimir Putin ordered Russian special forces to steal MH370 and secretly landed it at huge space port in Kazakhstan, claims expert.”                                                                                                                                                                                                               The Independent ran the same story 9/3/15

Just offer up any old nonsense with an anti-Russian slant and some rag somewhere will print it for you.  And it’s always ‘experts’ who come up with this sort of rubbish.

18/12/14                                                                                                                                    John Simpson attends Putin’s annual Q & A Press Conference (3+ hours and 53 questions) and diligently pursues the White House agenda.                                                  Over the course of more than a minute he voices not a question, but a political diatribe that could have come straight from John McCain.                                                                   Putin thanks him politely and for more than six minutes gives him a full, detailed and referenced response that exposes Simpson for what he is, a White House follower with an eye on retirement lecture tours perhaps.                                                                                           The whole 7 minute Q & A can be seen and heard (with translation) at                                                                         A transcript can be seen at                                                                                                                                                                     The BBC reports this online at                                                                                                                   How much was reported in TV or radio news I am unable to establish.

From being equivocal about Putin I am beginning to admire him. As the article referenced below asks ‘How many western leaders would venture in to a three hour impromptu Q & A session with a hostile media?’                                                                                                                                                                     Or compare and contrast the heavily scripted Psaki/Harf ‘shows’ that constitutes the White House press briefings  – see references in Post E.

1/3/15                                                                                                                                           The Guardian (seeing the mote in the BBC’s eye) comments on its pro-establishment, propagandist role.                                                               “As one academic study after another has demonstrated#, the opposite is the case. From the coverage of wars to economics, it has a pro-government, elite and corporate anchor. “   # and they do, see:                             –on-the-right-not-the-left-9129639.html

13/3/2015                                                                                                                                   Simpson yet again (BBC Today programme at app 0734) on the anniversary of the Crimea referendum that paved the way for the return of Crimea to Russia.                                     He posts one of his loaded, sneering Russophobic reports lacking in any real substance, but full of innuendo and anecdotal content and containing in particular the following:         ‘Only a year ago Sevastopol harbour was home to a few small Ukrainian ships …………Now once again it’s the base for Russia’s Black Sea Fleet.’

Home to a few small ships . . . He makes Sevastopol sound quite idyllic doesn’t he? A bit like one of those cosy little west country harbours with fishing boats bobbing on the water: Fowey perhaps, but he’s writing lies.     Just Google ‘Sevastopol harbour’ for the period 1/3/14 to 30/4/14 to see reports on the tense stand-off that was taking place there at the time.                                                                                                                                                 Sevastopol has in fact been the home to the Russian Black Sea fleet since the breakup of the USSR and earlier, and that has never changed.                                                                           Indeed the BBC reported on the fact on 8/3/2011                                                                               see also the Partition Treaty on the Status and Conditions of the Black Sea Fleet

And one might ask Simpson where precisely the Black Sea Fleet# had been based during the period when he alleges it was not in Sevastopol.                                                                 # 38 warships and 3 submarines see:

In Justin Webb’s introduction to the Simpson piece he says:                                                     ‘A year ago this weekend people in Crimea voted overwhelmingly to rejoin Russia after six decades as part of Ukraine, this followed a deliberate campaign . . . . to send in so-called volunteers, often serving Russian soldier to cut off Crimea’s road links with Ukraine, to take over  its military naval bases and to seize hold of its government.’                         Simpson’s comment was, ‘A year ago this felt like a very threatening place indeed filled with all sorts of extremists who had come flooding across the border from Russia but their job’s been done . . . . . ‘                                                                                                                 Neither Webb nor Simpson mention the fact that under the terms of the Partition Treaty referred to above Russia was allowed to maintain up to 25,000 troops, 24 artillery systems, 132 armoured vehicles, and 22 military planes on the Crimean peninsula. Scarcely any need for threatening extremists or volunteers who were serving Russian soldiers one might have thought.

30/3/2015                                                                                                                           Simpson again in the New Statesman                                                                                                     It seems that Simpson was lagging well behind the rest of the media pack here, for had he looked, he would have found that the questions he poses had already been answered by Russia, briefly and to the point, in a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs some five days earlier.                            At para 4 he writes:                                                                                                                              “After Viktor Yanukovych’s pro-Moscow Ukrainian government collapsed following the often violent protests of February 2014 Russia started to infiltrate Crimea with its forces# as part of a plan that was worked out, we are now told** , by Putin himself.”                                                                                                                           # Totally unnecessary for the reason mentioned below.                                                                ** By whom we wonder, or is he just winging it?

So that was it, the government just ‘collapsed.’                                                                   No mention of the antecedents dating back several years to a time when Yanukovych was running a pro-EU government.                                                                                          No mention of the stringent requirements of the IMF and World Bank for the EU bail-out which led Yanukovych to turn to Moscow.                                                                             No mention of Nuland’s address to the US-Ukraine foundation and the $5bn invested in the Ukraine in preparation for the US puppet administration.                                             No mention  of ‘the plan that was worked out,’ by the US neo-cons for a coup to overthrow Yanukovych’s democratically elected administration and put in place the one favoured by Washington: all fully revealed in the infamous ‘fuck the EU’ conversation between Nuland and Pyatt.                                                                                                                 No mention of the neo-Nazi right sector’s hand in the violence on the Maidan, in particular the murders by sniper fire which have now been shown to be almost certainly attributable to the anti-Yanukovych faction.                                                                                No mention of the failure of Baroness Ashton to initiate an investigation into the incident when informed by the Estonian Foreign Minister Paet of the strong suspicions that this was a false flag operation.                                                                                                 No mention of the fact that there was absolutely no need for Russia to ‘start to infiltrate Crimea with its forces’ because under the 1991 international agreement they had a perfect right to be there – see above.

So much for Simpson’s credentials to present anything but propaganda for the Washington narrative which he propagates  with enthusiasm, and his favourite use of unverifiable anecdote and the ad hominem approach.                                                              The Russian ambassador with his ‘sharp, Putin-like eyes behind rimless glasses’ – the ‘nasty civilian thugs . . . . and serving soldiers in unmarked uniforms’ – the ‘dodgy looking character’ with his walnut shells – or the ‘rather ghastly teenager at a Crimean school’ who sang him a welcome song.                                                                                                              That would presumably be at the school that received him with hospitality on his visit only two weeks earlier.                                                                                                                                             It’s all so ill-informed, nasty and Russophobic: the sort of piece that any self-respecting journalist would be ashamed of.

BBC’s Russophobia Plumbs The Depth                                                                              It seems to be impossible of over-estimate the depths to which the BBC will sink in pursuit of the Washington agenda that is invariably followed by the UK Political Establishment.                                                                                                                                      As part of its ‘celebrations’ of the 70th anniversary of VE day it has chosen to include as one of its offerings The Rape of Berlin introduced by Lucy Ash as “one of the most infamous incidents of mass rape in history . . . a story that slipped under the official radar.

Lucy apparently ‘discovers’ inter alia “two remarkably candid diaries from spring 1945: one by a Red Army officer, and the other by a female German journalist, which caused outrage when it was first published in German in 1959, but rocketed to the bestseller lists in 2003”                                                                                                Quotes are from the BBC iplayer site on 28/5/14

WOW – that far under the official radar eh? Caused outrage in 1959 and was a best seller in 2003.                                                                                                                      What a good job the BBC has such tenacious investigative journalist as Lucy. She may even actually have read all of the book and the diaries, or perhaps she just copied and pasted.     So far under the official radar did it slip that it has in fact been the subject of endless debate and used for exploitative propaganda purposes for fifty years and more.

It’s all quite standard muckraking so the only question is to ask Why Now?                       Possibly to avoid mentioning the 25M Russian dead (UK and USA combined under 1M); the Red Army that tore the heart out of the German fighting machine defeating 75%-80% of the German forces deployed in the European theatre; and the fact that even the severely depleted forces available to the Germans in the west at the fag-end of the war were able to throw the allied forces back on their heels at the Battle of the Bulge

And the fact that it is the BBC peddling this tat means of course that it gets maximum publicity throughout the media.                                                                                                         Eagerly taken up by the Telegraph which gives it a half page spread.                                                                         “The British and the Americans were our liberators, even though they bombed Berlin,” said survivor (and apparently un-raped) Mrs Drews.

Best not to mention though her countrymen, women and children who were ‘liberated’ the way the Americans know best – with a helping hand from the RAF:     Kassel – lethal firestorm 10,000 died                                                                                     Darmstadt – few legitimate military targets, 12,300 died                                                   Pforzheim – 21,000 died                                                                                                              Berlin – 20,000 to 50,000 died                                                                                            Dresden – lethal firestorm 25,000 died                                                                                   Hamburg – lethal firestorm 42,000 died                                                                                                                       Strange though that the ‘balanced and impartial’ BBC did not see fit to follow up with a piece on the rape, looting and atrocities carried out by the troops of the western allies – USA in particular.                                                                                                                  which has an interesting reading list on these topics at the end of the article. Something for Lucy to ‘discover’ another time perhaps.

Establishment bias in the BBC Today programme – Monbiot article

And an informative corrective to the Western/establishment propaganda churned out by the BBC

Analysis or reports on floods and climate change shows a bias towards the establishment view

AMERICA                                                                                                                                      In the USA bias is pretty well institutionalised as 90% of the media is controlled by just 6 corporations#:                                                                                                                                                                                               # which are in turn owned by the richest Americans such as the Koch brother, Warren Buffet, Larry Ellison etc, etc who in their turn have bought up and own the members of the Senate and the House of Representatives.                                                                                         Those who think otherwise might perhaps cast a glance at the results of a Gallup Poll survey which shows that for 30 years more than 60% of Americans have believed that wealth should be more evenly distributed among the people.

Yet so indifferent is the House of Congress to the interests, well-being and concerns of the people at large that over the same period the gap between the richest and the rest has grown exponentially.                                                                                                                 Congress represents the rich – period, as the Americans would say.                                           Just Google ‘us wealth gap history’ for the details.

The Odessa Massacre -Transferred to Post J.

21-22/7/15                                                                                                                                 The Independent – ‘The Baltics will be next’                                                                 The paper generously provides Saakashvili, newly appointed governor of Odessa, with a two page platform and free reign over consecutive days in which to peddle his Russophobic ant-Putin line.                                                                                                           Nothing new of course, no blinding insights, just the same old stuff that’s been running everywhere now for over a year: Putin a threat not only to Ukraine, but to ‘a wide swath of Eastern Europe’ etc, etc.                                                                                                                       It’s full of Putin said this, Putin said that, but for all that it contains there is not presented one shred of evidence.                                                                                                                      One has to go to the Editorial (Does anyone read these turgid pieces nowadays) to be told that SaaKashvili ‘is not an objective observer of events’ and is ‘according to his many critics something akin to an American puppet.’

One has to go even further and beyond the Independent to learn that Saakashvili is on the run from his native Georgia where he is wanted on multiple criminal charges (which he denies of course) and assumed Ukrainian citizenship to avoid extradition home.              One has to go further still to learn that not only is he akin to an American puppet (join the club said Poroshenko) he is actually on the US payroll.                                                             “Within the framework of Odessa’s anti-corruption pressure, the US government agreed to provide funds for the salaries of the new team of [Mikhail] Saakashvili,”           Saakashvili wrote on his Facebook page after the meeting with Geoffrey Pyatt, the US Ambassador to Ukraine.

Revisiting the Odessa massacre the paper writes ‘42 mostly pro-Russian demonstrators were burned to death.’ The reporter is either ignorant of the circumstances or deliberately misleading his readers. There was no ‘mostly’ about it.                                                            Not one of the Right Sector mob that attached the building died in the fire – the victims were entirely pro-Russian.                                                                 –and-the-baltics-will-be-next-says-odessa-governor-mikheil-saakashvili-10403298.html

Debris from ‘Russian-made missile’ found at site of MH17 crash.             Daily Express Headline 11/8/15                                                                                                       MH17: ‘Russian missile parts’ at Ukraine crash site.                                                                   BBC Headline 11/8/15                                                                                                                     Russian missile shrapnel in MH17 wreckage                                                                               Times Headline 12/8/15                                                                                                                   The article continues ‘Parts of a Russian anti-aircraft missile have been identified from the wreckage of the Malaysia Airlines plane shot down over Ukraine in July last year,’      MH17 crash: Fragments of Russian missile BUK launcher found at crash site                    The Independent 11/8/15                                                                                                               ‘Russian BUK missile parts’ found at MH17 crash site.                                                         Huffington Post Headline 11/8/15

Each headline is a lie based on a criminally irresponsible and distorted reading of a four paragraph notification issued by the Dutch Safety Board see:

If the use of quotation marks is intended to imply that the phrases them within form any part of the notification then that is false – they do not.                                                                 If that is not the implication then one has to ask why they and the ludicrous question mark in the Express are there at all. A signal perhaps that the words are not to be trusted or taken at face value.

The truth of the matter (not that any of the mainstream media would be interested in that) is to be found in the words of Wim de Bruin of the Joint Investigation Team.                           ‘It is still under investigation whether these are parts of a BUK missile system or not.         It is too early to draw any conclusions.                                                                                          We are investigating several scenarios:                                                                                         the first whether MH17 was shot down by a BUK missile                                                           the second scenario whether a jet fighter shot MH17 with an air to air missile

13/8/15                                                                                                                                              The Daily Mail and the Daily Express run the headline                                                                 ‘MH17 was downed by ‘bomb PLANTED by CIA which was detonated from satellite in space’                                                                                                                                                    The Independent is a little late on the scene on 15/8 with                                                    ‘Proof CIA blew up MH17 (with Russian accents)’

The ‘story’ is that this is a hilarious, and embarrassingly bad piece of Russian propaganda, and it would scarcely be worth comment were it not for the fact that some might possibly take it at face value. In which case it is worth pointing out:                                                     that Sergei Sokolov the Russian ‘security expert’ behind the story has apparently no security credentials beyond the fact that he organised security for the departed Boris Berezovsky, always a virulent critic of Putin.                                                                                 As an ‘expert’ Sokolov has about the same credibility as the ‘expert’  that provided the Mail with the story that ‘Vladimir Putin ordered Russian special forces to steal MH370 and secretly landed it at huge space port in Kazakhstan’ – see 24/2/15 above                            that the ‘shadowy organisation called Analytics and Security which boasts close ties to the secret services in Moscow’ is so shadowy that it is impossible to find any reference to it outside of this particular piece of nonsense.                                                                                   and that as a reliable source of hard news Komsomolskaya Pravda (the original source)  falls into the ‘yellow press’ category– Google search (“Komsomolskaya Pravda” “yellow press”)

Doesn’t it ever occur to the ‘reporters’ who seize upon and reproduce this stuff with such avidity that this is so bad it might just possibly be a plant? Its objective? To muddy what are already the foulest of foul waters by attributing to Russian sources a piece of propaganda that is so crudely spun that it is risible. Create enough of this sort of nonsense and then use it to rubbish the truth should it come out and not be to your liking.

15/8/15                                                                                                                                    Here’s the BBC at it again.                                                                                                               Ukrainian refugees this time with a headline ‘Refugees in their own country’ and sub-head ‘have fled the fighting in eastern Ukraine and moved elsewhere in the country’ from which it would be natural to assume that if they are still in their own country but not eastern Ukraine they must have fled to the western Ukraine.                    The reporter’s little anecdotes may be true of life for the few who have, but the whole tenor of the piece is in fact a lie. Most refugees have in fact fled the country altogether, very few have gone west understanding very well what awaits them there under Poroshenko’s fascist administration.      See Post D 12/6/15
